Thank you for looking at my blog! This is me:
Just a few things about me -
I was recently married on March 5, 2016 to my best friend (and life-long friend).
(This is a picture of us in high school. We went to high school, church, and college together.)
We honeymooned in Hawaii!
I LOVE teaching! I have taught Pre-K, 2nd, and Kindergarten. I have also student taught third and fourth grade, so I have been all over the place. I am thankful for all these experiences because they have helped me understand where my kinders will be going and where they are coming from. Some of my career accomplishments include:
*being honored as the Rookie Teacher of the Year in 2009
*being honored as the PISD District Teacher of the Year in 2011
*being honored with the State of Texas Excellence in Education Leadership award for Elementary Leadership
*being honored as the Aledo ISD District Teacher of the Year in 2017 and Region 11 Teacher of the Year
*National Presenter for Staff Development for Educators
I have also presented two times at the university I graduated from, Abilene Christian, as a guest teacher to help current students know more about Daily 5, guided reading, and writer's workshop and I have worked with three districts in Texas to integrate STEM with literacy.
I LOVE dachshunds! Here are my two cuties!
I LOVE bees! I have a bee themed classroom and have collected many bee items over the years from students. You can see my classroom here on my class website.
Apart from teaching, I also love to read, cook, clean (weirdo?!?!), and travel. I have worked on mission trips in three continents - Europe, South America, and Africa.
I remodeled a youth center in France in 2003.
I worked at an orphanage in Peru in 2014.
I worked on a medical mission in Zambia in 2015.
Thanks for visiting my blog and come back anytime!
